WE WILL REMEMBER THIS NOVEMBER: History in the Making

I once had the opportunity to stand on the Continental Divide in the United States.  It is a point where water will either flow east toward the Mississippi River or west toward the Pacific Ocean.  But it looked no different than any other piece of ground.  It was only because of the sign and the line on the ground that I understood the significance of the ground in which I was standing.

For each of the past four weeks, I have wanted to write about the historic times that we are living in right now.  It might have seemed at the time as just another month, but I believe it will be many decades before we ever have a month which contained so many significant events.  During November of 2004 there was the reelection of George W. Bush, the fall of the insurgency in the city of Fallujah, Iraq, the death of Yassar Arafat, and the disputed election in the Ukraine.  Years from now, history books will trace many major world developments to the month that has just passed.
